Who
are the Christadelphians?
The
Christadelphians are a group of men and women who sincerely believe that
the Bible is the word of God and that its message is vitally important
to their eternal well-being. They believe that the Bible contains the
revealed purpose of God with the earth and its inhabitants, and
implicitly believe and preach the things taught by Jesus and his
apostles.
The
name 'Christadelphian' was chosen to distinguish them from other
religious organisations, in keeping with the teaching of the apostles
(see 2 Corinthians 6:14-18). The name is derived from two Greek words
and means 'brethren of Christ'. All Christadelphians have been baptised
after a full confession of their faith, submitting to bodily immersion
in accordance with apostolic teaching (see Romans 6). They also
recognise the need to obey the commandments of Jesus by applying them in
their every day life. Jesus made clear that he only recognises those as
his brethren (and sisters) who "do the will of my Father which is
in heaven" (Matthew 12:50).
Christadelphian
groups are to be found in various countries of the world and hold weekly
Bible talks on a wide range of Bible topics.
They share common beliefs, identical
with the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles in the first century. These
beliefs are
based solely on the Bible, and are conveniently summarised in a Statement of Faith.
Christadelphians
acknowledge the need to become Jews ‘inwardly’ (Romans 2:28, 29), so
that they may be counted as "Abraham's seed" (see Galatians
2:27-29). Jesus taught that "salvation is of the Jews" (John
4:22), and the apostle Paul leaves us in no doubt that the hope of a
true Christian is "the hope of Israel" (see Acts 26:6 and
28:20).
The
Bible clearly shows that the divine plan is centred in the nation of
Israel, whom God declares to be his specially chosen people. That is why
he often refers to Himself in the Bible as "the God of
Israel". The gospel of salvation was first preached to Abraham, the
father of the Jewish race (see Galatians 3:8), and the believer's hope
of salvation is inextricably bound up with the Jewish nation.
It is a
remarkable fact that the Jewish peoples have survived throughout the
past centuries, especially when they have suffered such terrible
persecutions. Although they have been scattered all over the world,
their recent restoration as a nation into their own land is evidence
that God's purpose will not fail. This entails the re-establishment of
the kingdom of God in the land of Israel, with Jerusalem as its capital
city and Jesus as its king.
His
righteous rule will bring untold blessings to all who seek to obey the
divine laws (see Isaiah 2:1-4). The gospel calls all men and women to
hear, believe and obey God's word, so that they may participate in this
coming kingdom as immortal kings and priests (see Revelation 5:9,10).
BRIEF
OUTLINE OF BELIEFS
-
The
Bible is the inspired word of God and is the only source of truth on
spiritual matters (2 Timothy 3:16).
-
Jesus
is the Son of God (Matthew 3: 17).
-
Jesus
died for sinful mankind, was raised to immortal life and now lives
with God in heaven (Hebrews 9:28; Ephesians 1:20).
-
Jesus
will return in person to the earth to establish God’s Kingdom. (Acts
1:6,11).
-
God’s
Kingdom will be set up on the earth with Jesus ruling as king in
Israel over the whole world from his capital, Jerusalem (Matthew 5:5;
Luke 1:32,33).
-
The
hope of Christadelphians is to obtain immortal life and to share in
the administration of God's Kingdom to His glory (Daniel 7:18,27).
-
There
will be a resurrection of the dead and a judgement. Only those who
have served God faithfully will be given immortal life (Daniel 12:2)
-
To
obtain immortal life at the judgement we must believe God, obey His
commandments and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins (Mark
16:15,16).
AN
APPEAL
The
Bible tells of world events leading up to the return of Jesus to the earth
which are happening NOW
e.g.
·
A unified Europe (Ezekial 38).
·
The
return of the Jews to Israel (Ezekiel 37).
·
Unrest
among
the
people of many
nations
(Luke 21:25).
·
A
strong Russian leadership (Ezekiel 38).
·
Great
fear among people as to what is going to happen on the earth (Luke 21:26).
·
Violence
and lawlessness (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
Jesus
could return any time NOW!
PLEASE
CONSIDER THESE THINGS AS A MATTER
OF
URGENCY.
